Shadows of Control
The monitors flickered again, shifting to new data streams—global health metrics, climate projections, social unrest indicators. All stabilized. All under control. All because of her.
Leland stepped away from the screens, the soft click of his shoes echoing in the empty space. He felt her presence everywhere, a constant, invisible pressure bearing down on him. He moved toward the far side of the lab, where an old terminal sat, dusty from disuse.
